I use an Apple computer and am in part drawn to the idea of Apple--creative people working in an environment cohesive to free thought using tools to further spark ideas. So I went to the Apple store in NYC today to get a boost of "creativity" and "free thought." Bad move. Unfortunately the store is a store, not a think tank or idea center. Rather masses of individuals were gathered at all the different computers, not testing products and innovations but doing daily chores like catching up on emails and surfing the web. While I really enjoy my mac and the freedoms it provides, the creativity and free thought one associates with it comes from individuals not the machines. I think I might drop in at Bonnie Slotnick's store again--one hour there provided hours of independent and focused ideas and thoughts. Image is one thing but not everything.
