With regards to discoveries and dining, I am at a crossroads. I want to see, smell, taste and feel new foods, dishes, combinations and more. I rely on myself, Aki, cookbooks and food writing to keep me in the loop. The Internet provides a grand resource for those wanting to learn and expand their horizons and I am very fortunate to be pointed in many interesting directions. The conundrum comes about when these many resources are "uncovering" or "finding" restaurants or places to eat at which either have existed for years to a local and loyal clientele and are now subject to the dining scrutiny of the Internet, or are exposing restaurants which while in their own circle are magnificent, under the electron microscope of the masses become picked apart like a new virus.
Sometimes new discoveries are not new, just new to you and me and need to be shared as what they are rather than examined and probed for what they are not.
