It's a rare Friday when we have the night off. We're settling in at home with a DVD (The Replacements) and a bottle of wine (TBD) for a relaxing evening before a busy weekend. This afternoon we received a shipment of herbs and vegetables from the Chef's Garden and, a 13#case of organic cherries from Frog Hollow Farm. There are pictures, but we left the camera at work so they will have to wait until tomorrow. In case there is any doubt, tomorrow's menu revolves around cherries. They are fabulous, firm and sweet and utterly delicious. This week we also revived our sourdough starter so there are various bread offerings in the works. This starter has been with us for six years, traveling across the country and through the woods. We took a break last winter, dehydrating our baby and hoping for the best. She survived her hibernation admirably and has already made appearances this week in Fat Tire cheese bread, ciabatta, english muffins and pineapple-orange sweet bread. More on that tomorrow. We've tentatively mapped out our cherry menu & hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do. We have six guests that don't eat beef and two with an allergy to seafood, so planning was definitely a challenge. Anyway. more tomorrow, right now we can only say: TGIF!
