A way to early flight this morning has allowed us the additional freedom to add several more bites to our time in San Diego. We flew out a couple of days before our cruise to allow our bodies to adapt to warm air and a relaxed atmosphere. Actually, we are getting to catch up with family who we have not seen in years and they were willing to put up with us for those pre-cruise days. As we toured the city this morning my cousin mentioned lunch at the beach. I could only laugh. It has been years since I had lunch at the beach and I do not think it was ever a common thought. Anyway, he said his wife Kim insisted that we eat fish tacos if we were going to be in town. Fish tacos. When was the last time I had an authentic fish taco? I think it was right around never. Sure I have eaten fish tacos in casual Mexican joint in Maine or as a playful dish on a fine dining menu or a quick nod to Southern California on a sushi menu. I have not had the delight of eating a fish taco on the beach near its believed point of origin, Mexico. Well, I am off to taste tacos, hopefully I can convince my cousin to try as many taco stands as possible in order to really gain a brief glimpse into the world of fish tacos and beach side dining.
