Discipline

While driving to work today I was debating the ideas of cooking as a craft and cooking as an art.  One bounce on the back road jostled free that perhaps cooking is a discipline.  Certainly it takes discipline to perform well and consistently in the kitchen.  It is just that I had not previously thought of the work we do as a discipline.  Interesting yes, important definitely, an approach which needs to be examined further without a doubt.
