As parents of toddlers, the word convenience food has new meaning. When Amaya is hungry, she wants food RIGHT NOW. This is not always easy or convenient although it suddenly becomes clear why one of her favorite outings is to Whole Foods. When I was younger I disparaged people who let their kids eat food that had yet to be paid for and now I am one of those people. Thank goodness for their fresh Challah bread, it has tamed the ravening beast on more than one occasion.
I now understand the lure of the McNugget. Kids around the world love them, because they are tasty and child sized, never mind the wallop of fat and salt that comes with them. Fortunately there are alternatives. For us convenience came in small blue box in the frozen food section. Bell and Evans Chicken Nuggets are a kid and parent friendly alternative to the drive through and they cook up in the same amount of time as it takes to drive anywhere and wait in line. It's the foundation of a quick lunch that makes everybody happy. Even chefs occasionally require a pinch hitter at home.
PS: Yes we buy them ourselves, no hidden advertorials here.
