The idea was a truly flavorful ice cube, which adds flavor to the drink as it melts. The addition of aroma came as a secondary thought. Now red pepper juice as a cocktail base is not a universal win. It is sweet and flavorful but not exactly the norm. We have explored using the juice as the base for a Planters Punch and as a blending liquid (via ice cubes) for some tasty bourbon. The drinks were good but certainly not crave-worthy. However, the idea of combining flavors with complimentary flavors in an ice cube of all things is quite exciting. Imagine finding the right combination and having an ice cube that melted into a drink and made it taste even better. Definitely something to strive for. And if our first efforts aren't home runs there's no reason to beleieve that eventually we won't hit something out of the ballpark.
