After arriving in upstate New York I glanced around the garden and saw a pot "planted" with lamb's quarters and a random rhubarb stalk. I thought it was very clever to have a potted plant of weeds by the back door, but I did wonder about the rhubarb and how it got there.
It turns out it used to be a rhubarb pot and had been forgotten. The lamb's quarters made the most of the opportunity and took root. I look forward to making the most of the lamb's quarters later today. In an odd bit of connection, we did a dish with rhubarb, smoked trout and lamb's quarters a few years ago and it was nice to see that nature agreed with our pairing.
