Freeze dried fruits are our go-to ingredient when we are looking to add color and boost flavor. Pink sprinkles are a must in our house. We made these by grinding freeze-dried strawberries and sugar together and then adding just enough milk to form a spreadable paste. We used an offset spatula to spread the mixture in a thin, even layer on parchment paper and let it dry completely. You could use a dehydrator to speed up the process, especially if your kitchen is humid. Then we peeled it off the paper and chopped it up. These are the most flavorful sprinkles you will ever taste, adding a big strawberry impact anywhere you put them. Of course this will work with any freeze dried fruit, opening the door to different colors and flavors. Peach? Cherry? Banana? The possibilities are endless.
