A few weeks ago Amaya's first grade class went to work in the school garden. They planted carrot seeds, lettuces and dug through the compost to identify worms and insects.
This past week they went back to the garden and she brought home a small bag of lettuces and one radish.
We made it into a small salad as part of her dinner that night and she savored every bite. Now we've got to find a way to move our home garden up the priority list (and get it started) so we can continue to feed her enthusiasm for growing and eating her own vegetables.
