Tonight we experimented with brushing oil on our burgers before grilling them. We've been cooking a lot of burgers on the grill lately and they have a tendency to stick. We had never oiled them before because in theory there was enough fat in the meat dripping down over the burgers to lubricate things. Tonight felt like the right time to give it a try. It worked beautifully. They didn't stick and we got a few more gentle flare ups to increase the smoky grill flavor in the meat. The heat seemed to penetrate the meat more quickly and evenly yielding perfectly cooked burgers with a nicely charred exterior.
