"You know what would be amazing, a key lime pie doughnut." I was graced with this idea as I was glazing doughnuts in the kitchen last weekend. I paused, thought, looked around and realized I could make it happen. I took one of our yeasted doughnuts that was destined to be stuffed as a thumbprint. I dipped the doughnut into out buttermilk lime glaze. I filled the thumbprint with our vanilla pudding. I sprinkled the entire doughnut with our brown butter and white chocolate crumbs. I delivered the doughnut to the visionary. He paused and then sunk his teeth in. The doughnut delivered everything he was looking for. The decadent soft doughnut was the perfect canvas for these pie like accompaniments. Being open is essential to our discoveries and creations.
