A closer look reveals the details, the small differences in color and texture that result in such a pleasurable experience when you savor the berries one at time. Some are firmer and tart, some are plump and sweet, some are somewhere in between. When we eat our berries, Amaya analyzes their color and texture. She prefers firm, slightly sour berries, while I like the ones that are tender and juicy. While we may not always end up with the berries we are hoping for, each bite is a moment of anticipation and experience. It's fun to wonder what lies inside each small morsel, will it be woody or supple, will it be satisfying or stimulating? There's a certain pleasure in choosing each berry and the experience is teaching her how to experience food and life. Each bite matters, each choice is an opportunity for joy.
