I am currently laughing my way through Big Bad Breakfast, The Most Important Book Of The Day, by John Currence. I don't quite know what, if anything , I was expecting when I opened it up. What I got was a vastly entertaining tome full of essays and recipes that made me want to sit down with some good bourbon, have breakfast for dinner, and just hang out with the author and talk about food and anything else that comes to mind. l want to ask him why he mixes his eggs with milk and seasonings in a blender when he makes his American-Style omelets and then why he swirls the eggs in a pan without stirring them because that seems counter-intuitive to me when it come to omelet making, but I guess I'll just have to try it to figure it out. The omelets in the pictures certainly look light and fluffy and beautiful. I love that this book is unapologetically international in scope and still with a very focused and personal point of view. It's fun to read and there are lots of recipes that will tempt me into the kitchen. If you look closely at the picture above you will see little flags sticking out of the side of the book where I've marked things that I will probably want try sooner rather than later. I love that he makes his own cereals that are probably better than the originals. I also appreciate the wide range of dishes. As a person who enjoys a savory breakfast far more than a sweet one, I found plenty of good options throughout the book. The recipes read well and, while short, seem to be clearly written and relatively easy to follow. It's a good book. If you like making breakfast or if you like reading about breakfast, you should definitely invest in this one.`
