I just returned from the CIA Flavor Summit where I was able to present on Doughnuts as a creative catalyst. I was lucky to be able to attend most of the presentations. I was inspired by our friend Kyle Connaughton's presentation on his new boutique restaurant, farm, and inn: Single Thread. Their focus on all the details throughout the process from idea to actuality was amazing. His outlook on the long game of creation and hospitality was contagious. I was inspired by his Timeless Lessons in Hospitality:
- Guests do not come to experience us--they come to experience themselves.
- What we do or choose not to do is most genuine when it's not revealed.
- Be true to your uncompromising vision while maximizing flexibility for the guests.
