Sometimes excess is essential. The creation of our cider glazed cluster doughnuts with toffee crumbs and cinnamon swirl exemplifies this idea. The layering of cider, toffee and cinnamon--an inspiration pulled from caramel apples--is insanity on an apple. On a doughnut it's even more over the top. That hyper-delicious combination created two camps at the shop. There were those that thought the doughnut was way too much and should be avoided at all costs. The other group needed to have that doughnut immediately, captivated by the expression of autumn and excess. Having such a clear division was exciting to see. It showed that we had created something that evoked strong feelings and sparked conversation and appreciation.
