The local market was having a sale on lobsters, it's not the lowest price I've seen this year but it was low enough to pique my interest. When I got there, this blew my mind. I've never seen pre-packaged live lobsters before. I didn't buy any. I couldn't wrap my brain around the idea that they could have been in the bags for who knows how long. Yes, they were still alive but were they still happy? I know, I know, I was planning to cook them. But shouldn't they be as happy as they can be until I put them in the pot? We normally buy lobsters and then cook them in a matter of a few hours. This just seemed like cruel and inhumane punishment. And of course, you can't get a lively specimen if they're all sulking in plastic bags without water.
